Nimbuzz introduceert chatapplicatie voor Android

Nimbuzz is een van oorsprong Nederlandse instant messaging-applicatie die allerlei sociale netwerken ondersteunt. Nimbuzz ondersteunt Facebook, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, ICQ en Skype maar ook lokale netwerken zoals Hyves in Nederland, StudiVZ in Duitsland en Giovani in Italië. De belangrijkste eigenschappen van de vandaag gelanceerde Android-applicatie zijn: Skype IM, intelligente buddylijst, tijdsafhankelijke interface, homescreen-notificaties, lokale sociale netwerken en klikbare URL’s.

Nimbuzz werd erg populair op de iPhone. Ze realiseren zich dat er nog niet zoveel Android-toestellen als iPhones verkocht zijn, maar omdat ze een stategie hebben om op zoveel mogelijk toestellen aanwezig te zijn kon de Android-versie niet achterblijven. Ze proberen daarbij het beste uit het besturingssysteem en de hardware te maken voor een zo goed mogelijke gebruikerservaring. Later zullen meer functies worden toegevoegd.

Enkele interessante eigenschappen:

• Slimme buddylijst: laat avatars en aanwezigheidsinformatie zien, gecombineerd met de community-informatie.
• Tijdsafhankelijke gebruikersinterface: detecteert hoe lang je een naam aantikt. Een korte tik opent het profiel en een langere tik start een chatsessie.
• Homescreen-notificatie: je krijgt meteen een waarschuwing als er een nieuw chatbericht binnenkomt, ook als Nimbuzz op de achtergrond draait.
• Klikbare URL’s: zorgen voor meer gebruiksgemak tijdens het chatten. Je kunt bijvoorbeeld op linkjes klikken om een YouTube-video te zien of een Wikipedia-pagina te openen. Daarna ga je weer even snel terug naar het chatscherm.
• Automatisch herverbinden: als je wisselt tussen 2G, 3G en Wi-Fi zorgt Nimbuzz ervoor dat de internetverbinding automatisch weer tot stand wordt gebracht.
